Kung Fu Has Several Different Styles To Select From

The ancient Chinese martial art of Kung Fu is usually split into several different schools or styles, each with its own distinctive attributes. A number of martial artists consider White Crane style to be the most beautiful style of Kung Fu. The name, naturally, originates from the bird, and like many Kung Fu styles, it copies the way animals move around in nature. The moves of a highly skilled master of White Crane are quite lethal and powerful. The correct application of the moves can take a very long time to learn, although a master might make them look simple. Avoiding confrontations is what White Crane stylists are taught, but they are masters of self defense. They are going to stay out of fighting whenever possible, but they are well equipped to guard themselves if they need to.

Wing Chun is a philosophy that will not be mastered before many years of practice, and even understanding will take years. It is based on the fact that the adversary could strike, absorb, and then neutralize the attack. Then the adversary will back down, pursue and then counter. This is a style of fighting that works well when you are close to the assailant, as you're not seeking to create much distance. Whereas in a number of styles of Kung Fu, and also Karate, you see blocks and other techniques designed for fighting at a distance, Wing Chun doesn't make use of this sort of tactic. This martial art is based upon having a keen sensitivity, and then you attempt to not lose contact with your attacker.

Hung Gar is a kind of Kung Fu that focuses primarily on fighting in close quarters. Though this is extremely powerful at close range, it's less so if your adversary has some distance from you. It does work in areas where other martial arts fail, which makes it a powerful system when the stylist learns how to handle these places. The Praying Mantis style of Kung Fu imitates the movements of the insect of the same name, which was very carefully observed by a man named Wang in China hundreds of years ago. By observing the offensive and defensive movements of the praying mantis, he was able to create a style that remains today.

One of the most deadly systems of martial arts, the Monkey style, is considered as a comical approach to martial arts. This style goes back not less than a century and a half, when it was observed by missionaries traveling to China. A prisoner called See was observing the moves made by monkeys as they fought near the prison. He came to be called the Monkey Master, since he practiced and taught his new martial art after he was let out of prison. The Monkey style is practiced by many martial artists, and is a powerful system of self defense.

There are a number of systems of martial arts you can pick from, and many from within Kung Fu. It is a way of living in a lot of nations, and here in the United States, it is rising in popularity. Anybody who studies Kung Fu consistently is going to reap many rewards, including the capability to look after yourself.
